Public Notice 
Total Firework and Fire Ban has been lifted. 

As of 4:00 p.m. on July 11, 2023 the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has lifted their Restricted Fire Zone for the entire Province of Ontario. Therefore, the Total Firework and Fire Ban current in effect within the Township of North Kawartha has been lifted.

All open air burning is permitted/allowed with a valid burn permit. Day burning is not permitted.

North Kawartha Burn Permits are once again available in-person or online.

Total Firework and Fire Ban continues to be in effect

A Total Firework and Fire Ban continues to be in effect within the Township of North Kawartha due to being under the Restricted Fire Zone order made by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry under the Forest Fire Prevention Act.  While a Total Fire Ban is in effect, open burning or fireworks are not permitted/allowed and fines may be laid for non-compliance.

A total fire ban is currently in place within the Township of North Kawartha due to extremely dry conditions. Absolutely no fireworks or open air burning is permitted. The Township of North Kawartha will release notice once the fire ban has been lifted.

During the total fire ban, on-line or in-person burn permits will be suspended, therefore not avaialble.

Effective immediately the North Kawartha Fire Ban has been lifted.  From April 1 until October 31 burning is permitted after 6pm until 8 am only.  No day burning is allowed.
