Parks and Recreation Update

Posted On Friday June 11, 2021

Please see the attached poster and our COVID-19 page for more information.

Ontario’s Stay-at Home order which ended on June 2nd, allows for non-essential travel to resume, but all other public health and workplace measures will remain in place even as Ontario enters Step One of the Roadmap to Re-open, on June 11th. We have re-opened as many of our outdoor facilities as may be allowed, while being in compliance with all regulations and restrictions required under the Provincial re-opening plan and the provincial government announcement of May 20th which amended O. Reg 82/20. As of May 22nd, re-opened outdoor recreation amenities include the tennis & pickleball courts and sports field at Wilson Park. These are in addition to the playgrounds at the Wilson Park and Glen Alda Community Centres, and the boat launches that were already open. The public beaches at Chandos and Quarry Bay re-opened (with restrictions) on June 4th.

If you use the opened amenities, the Township and Public Health Officials remind you:

  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • In unsupervised areas, User Assumes All Risks and Liability.
  • Physical distancing of 2 metres (6 feet) must be maintained between anyone who is not from the same household.
  • You must wear a mask (even outdoors) if you cannot maintain physical distancing.
  • Team sports are not allowed.
  • Sports and recreation activities that cannot provide a minimum of 2 metres distancing are not allowed.
  • Maximum group gathering size is 10.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use hand-sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • If parking lot is full or the area is busy, please come back another time.
  • Do not park on the highway.
  • The opened amenities will be patrolled regularly.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
