Amenities

Amenities in North Kawartha include medical facilities, an ambulance base, a pharmacy, a school, larger grocery outlets and smaller general stores, gift stores/boutiques, libraries, retail and commercial operations including restaurants, real estate, building supplies, marinas, boat launches, legal services, a Legion, three golf courses, gas stations/garages, LCBO outlets, and post offices.

Additionally, there are beachesparks and green spaces, as well as year-round recreational programs and facilities, including a seasonal indoor ice surface. The many area attractions also include snowmobile, skiing and hiking trails. All of which make North Kawartha a very popular tourist destination

There are two Provincial Parks within our boundaries; Petroglyphs Provincial Park (displaying the largest known concentration of aboriginal rock carvings in Canada), and the Kawartha Highlands Signature Site Provincial Park. The Signature Site consists of 34,000 hectares set aside for long-term preservation (due to the fragile ecosystem), making it the largest single area of preserved land in the southern part of the province.

The North Kawartha Public Library produces a Community Directory, while the Apsley Central Public School includes a daycare facility. There are many churches and other places of worship, including the Zoe Christian Academy. In addition, cemeteries and the Burleigh Road Historical Society can be helpful in tracing ancestry and other historical aspects of the area.
