The Township of North Kawartha is a four-season destination that is located within the north eastern quadrant of Peterborough County and is easily accessible by Highway 28. As these positions may be funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program, Preference will be given to applicants:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;

Building Department Assistant

Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the Building Department Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Building and Planning Department as required. This position reviews documents for inaccuracies or omissions and ensures documents are accurately filed according to policies and regulations of the Township.

Typical climate-controlled office environment. Work activities require visual and mental concentration for intermediate durations of time. This is a temporary seasonal position with a 40 hour work week, Monday through Friday. Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing less than 30 lbs (i.e. office supplies or files). Occasional travel outside the office to attend sites or for routine office tasks may be required.

General Labourer (Parks & Recreation)

Reporting to the Director of Parks and Recreation, this position assists with the operation and maintenance of the new boat cleaning station, along with seasonal landscaping, flower watering and public beach maintenance duties, within the Parks and Recreation Department.

There will be public contact which will include greeting and providing boat cleaning station information and guidance to the general public with professionalism, diplomacy and integrity, consistent with the public status and image of the Township. 

This position provides support to the full-time Parks and Recreation Department Staff. This is a seasonal position working 35 to 40 hours per week. This position requires working a morning and afternoon split-shift, every Saturday and Sunday.

Roads General Labourer

Reporting to the Road Supervisor, the Roads General Labourer is responsible for assisting with general labour and varying seasonal duties in the Roads Department. This position provides support to the Roads Department staff assisiting with day to day activities. The Roads General Labourer may have some public contact such as greeting customers or visitors and so must display professionalism, diplomacy and integrity consistent with the values of the Township, it’s public status and image.

Typically an outdoor work environment with frequent exposure to inclement weather, dirt, dust, noise and vibration.  Indoor work environments include the Roads Garage. Travel to construction sites and public property. This is a temporary seasonal position with a 40 hour work week (Monday to Thursday) comprised of varying shifts. Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50lbs.

Seasonal Summer - Accounting Office Assistant
Accounting Office Assistant

Reporting to the Treasurer, the Accounting Office Assistant provides administrative support to the Finance Department, Chief Administrative Officer, Township staff and members of Council/Committees as required. This position will assist with various financial analysis duties, perform a range of daily and monthly accounting functions and responsibilities including general ledger analysis as required; month-end reconciliations; month-end reports. The Accounting Office Assistant participates in various projects, policy research and in the development of special reports, as well as daily office tasks.

Typical climate-controlled office environment. Work activities require visual and mental concentration for intermediate durations of time. This is a temporary seasonal position with a 35 hour work week, Monday through Friday. Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing less than 30 lbs (i.e. office supplies or files). Occasional travel outside the office to attend meetings, seminars, and for routine office tasks may be required.
