Councillor RuthAnne McIlmoyl

I grew up in North Kawartha and made the decision to leave after high school due to limited economic opportunity at the time.

I went on to become a financial professional and worked in all areas of equipment finance including business / systems analysis. After several years I decided to move on and help families with debt and planning for their futures. This led me to understand how fortunate I am. I began volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, MS Society and many shelters including John Howard Society and I continue to volunteer with most of them.

In 2017 I decided to move home. Since coming home I’ve immersed myself in the community. I am a founding member of the North Kawartha Economic Development Cooperative where I have been treasurer since the group’s inception in 2018 and for the last year, I was also Vice Chair. Part of what I enjoy in this group is reaching out to new, and existing businesses to ask them to showcase their business for the group to help expand their reach.

For 5 years I managed Woody's, a local not for profit which donates its profits back to the community. I wanted to help maximize those returns.

I have attended most of North Kawartha’s council meetings in the past 4 years to gain an understanding of issues in the township.

I’m excited to start my first term of council and I look forward to working with my council colleagues!
