COVID-19 Notice

The Township of North Kawartha is taking actions to help protect the health of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please visit the Township website’s COVID-19 page to stay informed of additional closures/changes to Township services, amenities, and programs. To ensure public safety, and be in compliance with Peterborough Public Health recommendations and Provincial Government orders that came into effect at 12:01 am on Saturday, April 03, 2021 (amended April 08 and April 17), the Township must close the North KawarthaWilson Park, and Glen Alda Community Centres, which means programs and/or services at the Community Centres will be suspended for a minimum of six weeks. This includes the Fitness Centre, the NKCC ice surface, and all other programming.

Outdoor recreation amenities must be closed, which includes the beaches at Chandos and Quarry Bay, and the tennis & pickleball courts and sports field at Wilson ParkPlaygrounds and boat launches remain open, but any person using these spaces must physically distance from any other person who is not from the same household. In unsupervised areas, User Assumes All Risks and Liability.

North Kawartha maintains two public beaches - Chandos Beach at 2821 Highway 620 (15 minutes north of Apsley), and Quarry Bay Beach at 1986 Northey's Bay Road (near Petroglyphs Provincial Park). Our beaches are natural beaches and are unsupervised, (there are no lifeguards). User Assumes All Risks and Liabilities. We highly recommend that all children be supervised, for their safety.
