Environmental Day


The Township of North Kawartha is taking actions to help protect the health of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please visit our COVID-19 page to stay informed of closures/changes to Township servicesamenities, and programs

As Garbage and Recycling Collection is deemed an essential service, the Waste/Transfer Stations will maintain regular hours but will not be accepting Textiles, or Re-Use Depot items until further notice. In addition, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot at the Anstruther Transfer Station will remain closed for the 2020 season.

Curbside Collection will continue as per the normal schedule. 
To support social distancing, residents are encouraged to use Curbside Collection.

Environmental Day 2020 Is Cancelled

Under normal circumstances, once a year, the Township of North Kawartha and the County of Peterborough host a Spring Clean Up / Environmental Day at the Anstruther Transfer Station. However, to help protect the health and safety of the public the County, has cancelled this year's (2020) Environmental Day.  

This event sees the seasonal opening of existing services, and one-day-only special services. The County of Peterborough opens the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) depot, has blue bins available, and is on hand to provide education, and answer your questions.

For this one day, the Anstruther Transfer Station will accept items such as mattresses and couches. Please be advised that tipping fees apply to mattresses and couches.

This year's one-day-only Environmental Day has been cancelled.
