Hazardous Waste

The Anstruther Transfer Station is host (seasonally) to a Hazardous Waste depot, operated by the County of Peterborough.

The County of Peterborough has a Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste (MHSW) depot available to ratepayers as well, located at 400 Pido Road, Peterborough ON K9J 6X7.  For addtional information visit: www.ptbocounty.ca/recycling, and scroll down to Household Hazardous Waste.

June 2 to September 1, 2019

Wednesdays 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Sundays 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

September 4 to October 9, 2019

Wednesdays 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

  • Automotive fluids (all)
  • Batteries (all)
  • Cleaners (all)
  • Cosmetics/make-up
  • Fertilizers
  • Flourescent light bulbs/tubes
  • Gasoline
  • Herbicides/Pesticides
  • Mercury containing devices
  • Motor oil
  • Paint and stain
  • Pet care products
  • Pool chemicals
  • Propane cylinders (50kg/100lb maximum)
  • Sealants and glues
  • Soap and toiletries
  • Thinners

Please note: Sharps (syringes/lancets) and/or medications need to be returned to pharmacies for proper disposal.
