Maintenance of Municipal Records

Records are one of the Township’s most important assets; they represent the legal, economic and historical transactions of the Township. Through its records, the Township documents its accountability to its citizens as well as to government and legal regulators. Under Section 254, subsection (1) of the Municipal Act, 2001 we are responsible “to retain and preserve the records of a municipality and its local boards in a secure and accessible manner”. The Ontario Municipal Records Management System (TOMRMS) is the system used by the Township to effectively organize and protect all paper, electronic and physical records within the Township.

Many records are public documents and therefore available to the public however, some records are subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and are therefore private.

If you would like to make a request for records that fall under MFIPPA, you will be required to submit a Request for Information Form.

To request a municipal document or more information about Records Management please contact the Clerk.
