Recreation Programs

We offer a variety of recreation programs. In addition to annual seasonal programs such as baseball, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, an adult hockey league, and figure skating, we also sponsor other programs such as ping pong, adult pickleball, pick-up hockey, and plenty of public skating.

We work closely with the AMHA (Apsley Minor Hockey Association), and host a Junior C hockey team - the North Kawartha Knights. There is also the fully-equipped NKCC Fitness Centre, and various fitness classes are offered. In the Summer there are beach volleyball, basketball, and tennis/pickleball courts, as well as a baseball diamond at Wilson Park. And we are always open to looking at new program ideas. For more detailed information on our recreation programs, please choose from the drop-downs below, or contact us at 705-656-4445.

In addition to our recreation programs, there is always lots to see and do in North Kawartha. The North Kawartha Figure Skating Club 2022/23 Season

The North Kawartha Figure Skating Club prides itself on providing programs for the entire community. Come and learn to skate with us, where our skaters love the action, music, and fun. Figure skating lessons at the NKCC begin Tuesday, September 13, 2022 and end with the North Kawartha Figure Skating Club Annual Show on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Join the North Kawartha Figure Skating Club's Facebook page.

Gymnastics

Winter Gymnastics

Please note: this program is currently suspended.

We're aware that many were anxiously awaiting the return of the Gymnastics Program at the NKCC. The Township of North Kawartha has taken actions which include working closely with the Public Health Unit to help protect the health of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we are also requesting that members of the public share some of that responsibility, by observing the rules and regulations that have been put in place for your protection, and the protection of others.

Instead of running separate Fall and Winter programs, this year we are running a 19 week program commencing Monday, November 2nd, 2020, and culminating with a show on Friday, April 9th, 2021 (excluding the Holiday Season, Family Day, March Break, and Easter).

Each class size is limited to 6 for the protection of everyone, and to allow for greater supervision of students.

Pre-registration for Winter 2020/21 Gymnastics
To help protect the health of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, registration for the Winter 2020/21 Gymnastics Program had to be adjusted to ensure the safety of all involved.

To that end, Pre-registration is a must. The ONLY way to do this is to send an email to j.elder@northkawartha.ca, in order to enroll your child in the appropriate class. Registration Forms and Participation Waivers will also be available at the NKCC and must be completed and signed prior to the first class. So please arrive early to go over the details in the new protocols. Only those who have pre-registered will be allowed to sign up and participate. At the NKCC we accept cash, debit or cheque. Cheques made payable to: The Township of North Kawartha.

Pickleball (Adult, Seasonal, Indoor)
Pickleball was created with one thing in mind: fun. It was designed to be easy to learn and play, whether you’re five, eighty-five, or somewhere in-between. It is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special pickleball paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The wiffle ball and smaller court size allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle.

Indoor Pickleball is played at the NKCC on Wednesdays as part of the ABC Seniors Group. You must be an ABC Seniors Group member in order to play. For more information about the ABC Seniors Group, see our Community Groups page.
