The North Kawartha Figure Skating Club

2023/24 Season
The North Kawartha Figure Skating Club prides itself on providing programs for the entire community. Come and learn to skate with us, where our skaters love the action, music, and fun. Then in March they get to display the results of all their hard work and dedication in a spectacular ice show. With many skill levels, we are able to assess your child's skating abilities and place them in the appropriate group.

Figure skating lessons at the NKCC begin Tuesday, September 12, 2023 and end with the North Kawartha Figure Skating Club Annual Show on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

Join the North Kawartha Figure Skating Club's Facebook page.

Volunteers are a must for all programs, so please consider volunteering.

Learn to Skate
Learn to Skate coaches work with young skaters to develop balance and the basics of skating. Skaters work on forward and backwards skating.

Intermediate
Intermediate coaches work with skaters who have graduated our Learn to Skate program. Skaters start working on basic spins and jumps.

Senior
Senior coaches work with skaters who have graduated our Intermediate program. Skaters continue working on higher level jumps and spins.

Pickleball

Seasonal Outdoor and Indoor Pickleball

Pickleball was created with one thing in mind: fun. It was designed to be easy to learn and play, whether you’re five, eighty-five, or somewhere in-between. It is traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special pickleball paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball, but slightly smaller. The wiffle ball and smaller court size allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle.

Seasonal Outdoor Pickleball
The double tennis courts at the Wilson Park Community Centre (66 Northey's Bay Road, Woodview, ON K0L 3E0) are active from May through October.

The courts can accommodate pickleball as well as traditional tennis. The pickleball lines are yellow, in order to differentiate them from the white tennis lines. Additionally, there are the Wilson Park Pickleball Club and the Wilson Park Ladies Tennis Club, for those interested in joining up with like-minded players.

Reserved Court Times:
Tuesday mornings (9 am-12 pm) are reserved for The Wilson Park Pickleball Club.

Swimming

image of child in water with lifejacket

The Peterborough Public Health website has lots of valuable information pertaining to swimming and public beaches, including current test results.

In January, 2022 The Canadian Red Cross announced that it would no longer offer its swimming and lifeguard lessons after 2022, in order to direct more of its attention to disaster relief, pandemic response, opioid harm reduction, and care-giving for seniors. Therefore, although Red Cross Swim Programs are no longer offered, we have transitioned to the Lifesaving Society's accredited programs, some of which we have offered in the past.
