Road Closures
Crowe River Bridge

Notice of Closure - Crowe River Bridge

Please be advised that County Road (CR) 504, from CR 620 to Glen Alda Road, will remain closed to all through-traffic until the fall of 2022. Access for local traffic on CR 504 will be maintained during this period.

The County has been working with parties to determine the best solution to advance the replacement of the Crowe River Bridge since a work stoppage was put in place in the fall of 2019.

The deficient bridge superstructure that did not meet contract requirements was completely removed this past winter. The concrete abutments that were previously constructed will be utilized to support a new galvanized steel bridge superstructure that is currently being manufactured.

Delivery of the new bridge superstructure to the construction site will be received in mid-August. After the superstructure has been installed, construction of the road approaches and remaining bridgeworks will recommence. The anticipated completion date of the full contract is October 2022.

The detour route on Glen Alda Road will remain signed during this period.

The County of Peterborough appreciates and understands the impact that this extended closure has had on the community. We understand the importance of getting a bridge in place and open to traffic. Resolving this complex issue has taken a significant amount of time and the County is committed to completing the full replacement of the Crowe River Bridge.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
