Total Fire and Firework Ban in effect!

Total Fire and Firework Ban is in effect for the Township of North Kawartha as of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and will remain in effect until further notice. 

All forms of open-air burning are strictly prohibited (not allowed) during a total fire and firework ban:

Campfires, of all sizes
Brush burning, of all means
Cooking Fires, of all means
Wood cooking equipment
Charcoal Barbecues
Charcoal or wood smokers.

Propane or naphtha Gas cooking equipment with shutoff mechanisms and electric cooking equipment are permitted/allowed during a total fire and firework ban within the Township of North Kawartha.

All active burn permits are immediately suspended, and no new permits will be issued until the total fire and firework ban has been formally lifted.

Notice Of Temporary Road Closure: Northey’s Bay Road At Quarry Beach Road

August 14, 2025

The Township of North Kawartha has been advised by Peterborough County that County Road 55, also known as Northey’s Bay Road, will be temporarily closed at Quarry Beach Road from August 19 to August 20, 2025, to accommodate a culvert replacement.


This project will require the full closure of this section of road to ensure the safe staging of construction equipment and completion of the project.
