Public Notice: September 1, 2025, Labour Day Municipal Hours
The Municipal office will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, for Labour Day and will re-open on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours.
Parks & Recreation
The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Garbage & Recycling
The Haultain and Anstruther Transfer Stations will be open on Monday, September 1, 2025, for Labour Day with Sunday hours from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, per the summer schedule.
Curbside Garbage and Recycling collection will operate as normal. Please have your material out at the curbside by 7:00 am.
For missed curbside garbage collection, please call Waste Connections at 705-742-4268 and for missed curbside recycling collection, please call Emterra at 1-888-597-1541.
Total Fire and Firework Ban
A total fire and firework ban is still in effect for the Township of North Kawartha.
All forms of open-air burning are strictly prohibited/not allowed throughout the Township during a total fire and firework ban. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Campfires, of all sizes
- Brush burning, of all means
- Cooking Fires, of all means
- Wood cooking equipment
- Charcoal Barbecues
- Charcoal or wood smokers.
Propane or naphtha gas cooking equipment with shut-off mechanisms, and electric cooking equipment are permitted / allowed during the fire ban.
Fireworks are strictly prohibited / not allowed during the ban, including over the Labour Day holiday and the preceding weekend. Any use of fireworks under these conditions poses a serious risk and may result in fines.
Failure to comply with the Total fire and firework ban is a serious offence and non-compliance may result in fines.
