Take Action on Radon!

Peterborough Public Health is offering workshops across the region throughout the month of November to share knowledge about radon and suggest ways people can mitigate radon exposure in their homes. Workshop will be held in North Kawartha on:

Wednesday, November 13, 7:00 p.m. – North Kawartha Community Centre
340 McFadden Rd, Apsley, ON K0L 1A0

Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium found in rocks and soil. You can’t see, smell, or taste radon. When outside, radon does not usually cause health issues because it can disperse in the air. But when radon seeps into confined spaces like a house, it can build up to high levels and become harmful.

NOTE:  The first 20 households at each session who agree to be a part of the research study will receive a free radon test kit. The study consists of answering a brief questionnaire about the age and type of house you live in and sharing radon test results with the researchers.
