Public Notice - Civic Holiday

The Municipal office will be closed on Monday, August 3, 2026, for the Civic Holiday and will re-open on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 9:00 am with normal business hours.
Parks & Recreation
The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Garbage & Recycling
The Haultain and Anstruther Transfer Stations will be open on Monday, August 3, 2026, with Sunday hours of 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., per the summer schedule.
Curbside Garbage and Recycling collection on Monday, August 3, 2026, will operate as normal, with no scheduled changes. Please have your material out at the curbside by 7:00 a.m.
For missed curbside garbage collection, please call Waste Connections at 705-742-4268 and for missed curbside recycling collection, please call Emterra at 1-888-597-1541.

Nominations are open until Friday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Interested candidates are encouraged to review the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election Information for Candidates for the Township of North Kawartha.
Candidate Nomination Packages are available at the Municipal Office.

2026 Municipal and School Board Election Candidates
The nomination period for candidates in the Township of North Kawartha's municipal election is open from Friday, May 1 until Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2 p.m.
Unofficial List of Candidates
The table below names the Unofficial List of Candidates who have filed the necessary nomination papers, declarations and fees with the Township of North Kawartha Clerk's Office. Certification of Candidates will occur following the closing of nominations at 2:00 p.m. on August 21, 2026 and will be completed by August 24, 2026.

Municipal and School Board Elections in Ontario are held every four (4) years on the fourth Monday of October.
In the 2026 municipal and school board elections for the Township of North Kawartha eligible electors will vote electronically using the internet or telephone.
The last Municipal and School Board Election was held on October 26, 2022 to elect the Mayor, Council Members and School Board Trustees. Under the Municipal Elections Act, the four-year term of office for the current Council and School Board Trustees is 2022 – 2026.
