    Please be advised that a Special Joint Council Meeting will be held with Curve Lake First Nation, Selwyn Township, the Township of North Kawartha, and the Municipality of Trent Lakes on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.at the Curve Lake Community Centre, located at 20 Whetung Street East, Curve Lake, ON K0L 1R0.

  • Haunted Halloween Maze at Fire Station 1

    The North Kawartha Fire Department invites you to a spooky community evening at our Haunted Halloween Maze on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    The maze will wind its way through Fire Station 1 in Woodview and promises fun for kids of all ages.  

  • Public Notice - Thanksgiving Monday, October 13, 2025

    Please be advised that the Municipal office will be closed on Monday, October 13, 2025, for Thanksgiving and will re-open on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours. 

    Parks & Recreation 

    The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Monday, October 13, 2025. 

    Garbage & Recycling 

    The Haultain and Anstruther Transfer Stations will be open on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13, 2025, with Sunday hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, per the winter schedule. 

    Curbside Garbage and Recycling collection will operate as normal. Please have your material out at the curbside by 7:00 am.

    The Council of the Township of North Kawartha will be holding a Special Meeting for the purpose of a Facilities/Properties Tour of Council on:

    Friday, October 10, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

    This tour is to complete the previous tour held on Friday, September 19, 2025.

  • Media Release: Peterborough County OPP Detachment Board Seeks Community Members

    The Peterborough County OPP Detachment Board is inviting residents to apply for positions as Community Appointees, giving the public an important voice in local policing oversight.

    The Board is seeking a total of three Community Appointees from residents of the following areas: Curve Lake First Nation, Hiawatha First Nation, Asphodel-Norwood, Douro-Dummer, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, North Kawartha, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Selwyn (Smith and Ennismore Wards), and Trent Lakes.

    Residents are advised that the Canada Post strike, effective Thursday, September 25, 2025, may result in delays or disruption of mail delivery, including correspondence from Township departments.

  • Public Notice: Total Fire and Firework Ban Lifted - Restrictions in Place

    The Township of North Kawartha is advising residents and visitors that the Total Fire and Firework Ban issued on August 5, 2025, has been lifted as of Friday, August 29, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. 

    While the total ban is no longer in effect, burning restrictions remain in place.

    • Daytime burning is not permitted, and burning is allowed only between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. with a valid burn permit.
    • Fireworks may also be used between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Holidays and their preceding weekends.
    • Flying lanterns are strictly prohibited in North Kawartha at all times. 
  • Public Notice: September 1, 2025, Labour Day Municipal Hours

    The Municipal office will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, for Labour Day and will re-open on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours.

  • Public Notice: Upcoming MTO Culvert Improvements on Highway 28 from Apsley to Bancroft

    The Township of North Kawartha has become aware of upcoming road construction planned and coordinated by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), under project GWP 4017-17-00 and contract number 2022-4005, and would like to share that information with residents and travelers.
