  • Township of North Kawartha Seeking Expressions of Interest for Lease Opportunity in Apsley 

    The Township of North Kawartha is requesting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from individuals, businesses, organizations, and service providers interested in leasing a newly renovated commercial office space at 135 Burleigh Street in Apsley. 

    The approximately 1,250 sq. ft. unit, formerly occupied by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), has recently been upgraded and is move-in ready. Renovations include new flooring, fresh interior finishes, a kitchenette, an accessible washroom, and updated entrance doors, making the space suitable for a wide range of professional and commercial uses. 

    Located within the General Commercial Zone, the property supports a variety of potential uses including business or professional offices, retail, personal services, restaurants, and community-oriented services. 

    Through this EOI process, the Township is looking to: 

    • Gauge market interest in the space 
    • Identify potential tenants and proposed uses 
    • Support local economic development and community services 

    The Township anticipates an all-inclusive lease structure covering utilities, maintenance, and standard operating costs. 

    Interested parties must submit their Expressions of Interest by Friday, July 31, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.

  • Public Notice from Lakelands Public Health

    The Township of North Kawartha has been advised by Lakelands Public Health of a temporary disruption to the private citizen safe drinking water sample drop-off program.

    Due to the laboratory closure in observance of Canada Day on Wednesday, July 1, 2026,  water samples will not be accepted at the Township of North Kawartha Municipal Office on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and avoid collecting samples during this time.

    This program is administered by Lakelands Public Health, and regular service is expected to resume following the holiday.

    Residents with questions or concerns about their water quality are encouraged to contact Lakelands Public Health directly at www.lakelandsph.ca

  • Help Shape the Future of Transit in North Kawartha and Peterborough County

    The Township of North Kawartha, in collaboration with Peterborough County and Community Care, is undertaking a study to explore potential public transit options across the region.

    The study aims to better understand how transit services could connect local communities and support residents in accessing key destinations, services, and activities. Input from the public will play an important role in identifying current transportation needs and shaping possible transit solutions.

    Feedback is encouraged from both permanent and seasonal residents, as the study seeks to reflect the diverse transportation needs across the Township and surrounding areas.

    Public input gathered through this process will help guide future decisions regarding transit services in North Kawartha and across Peterborough County

  • Issue Resolved - Water Over Old Apsley Road

    The Township of North Kawartha Public Works Department advises residents and motorists that the water flow over Old Apsley Road, caused by a failed beaver dam upstream yesterday, has been resolved. Water levels have receded and the roadway is passable.


    The Township thanks residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation while this issue was addressed.

  • Water Over Old Apsley Road Monday, June 15, 2026

    The Township of North Kawartha is advising residents that Old Apsley Road has water over the road due to a beaver dam failing upstream.  

    Water levels are continuing to decrease, however there is reduced lanes where water is flowing over . Drive with caution .

  • Road Rehabilitation Work Underway on Select Township Roads

    The Township of North Kawartha Public Works Department would like to advise residents that road rehabilitation work will be taking place on the following roads:

    • Haultain Road
    • Glen Alda Road
    • Winters Bay Road
    • Lakeview Crescent
    • Fitch Lane Road

    Construction is scheduled to begin immediately and is anticipated to continue through Fall 2026.

    The road rehabilitation project will include a range of roadway improvements, including:

    • Ditching
    • Culvert replacements
    • Gravel resurfacing
    • Road grading
    • Surface treatment application

    During construction, residents may experience temporary road closures, increased noise, and minor traffic disruptions. The Township asks motorists and residents to use caution in construction zones and remain mindful of workers and equipment operating in the area.

    Emergency services access will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

    These improvements are part of the Township’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving municipal infrastructure and enhancing the safety and reliability of the local road network.
