Are you on the Voter's List?

You can use Elections Ontario’s Voter Registration service to confirm, update or add your information for both provincial and municipal elections in Ontario.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) remains responsible for collecting information about school support. To update your school support information, visit MPAC’s online School Support tool.

In the 2026 municipal election, eligible electors in North Kawartha will be able to vote electronically using the internet or telephone

 

Who can vote in a municipal election?

A person is entitled to be an elector at an election held in a local municipality if on Voting Day, he or she,
- resides in the local municipality, or is the owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant; and
- is a Canadian Citizen
- is at least 18 years old; and
- is not prohibited from voting under Section 17 Subsection 3 of the Municipal Election Act or otherwise by law.

It can sometimes be complicated to determine if you qualify, please refer to the 2022 Voters' Guide provided by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs for further explanation.

Who can vote in a school board election?

In order to vote in a school board election in Ontario, you must be aged 18 or older and a Canadian citizen.

If you are a resident of a municipality, you are eligible to vote for school trustee. If you are the owner or tenant (or spouse of an owner or tenant) of residential property in a municipality, you are eligible to vote for school trustee. You are allowed to vote only once for the same school board.

If you are eligible to vote in a municipality because you are the owner or tenant (or spouse of an owner or tenant) of a commercial property there, you are not eligible to vote for school trustee.

Ward boundaries separate the different areas for voting in municipal elections.

There are two wards in the Township:

  • Ward 1 (previously the Township of Chandos)
  • Ward 2 (previously the Township of Burleigh Anstruther)

There is a representative on Council for each Ward.
