Candidate Nomination Period Opens May 1, 2026 for 2026 Municipal Election
The Township of North Kawartha is advising residents that the candidate nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election will open on May 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The municipal election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Eligible residents who are interested in running for Municipal Council are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the nomination process, eligibility criteria, and filing requirements.
Prospective candidates are required to file their nomination papers in person and are requested to schedule an appointment with the Township’s Returning Officer.

Nomination Forms and Requirements
The nomination process requires completion of the following forms:
- Nomination Paper (Form 1)
- Endorsement of Nomination (Form 2)
Both forms, along with detailed instructions, are available through the Township’s Virtual Nomination Package, accessible on the Township website at: https://www.northkawartha.ca/.../info.../nomination-package/
Residents are encouraged to review the package carefully before submitting their nomination.
