Curbside Collection Cancelled

Due to current weather and road conditions, curbside collection of garbage and recycling within the Township of North Kawartha has been cancelled for today, Monday, December 29, 2025. A double collection will be accepted on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Residents may also bring their garbage and recycling to either of the Township’s transfer stations during regular business hours.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Declaration of a Signification Weather Event

Public Notice - December 28, 2025

The Township of North Kawartha is declaring a Significant Weather Event in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02, "Minimum Maintenance Standards".

Environment Canada has issued an Orange Freezing Rain Alert, with ice accretion amounts of 15 to 20 mm possible. Freezing rain is expected to begin this evening and continue into the morning of Monday, December 29, 2025.

An Environment Canada Orange Alert indicates that severe weather conditions are likely and may result in significant damage, service disruptions, or health impacts.

The Township of North Kawartha Public Works Department is actively monitoring weather conditions and will deploy resources as required. Winter abrasives and de-icing treatments will be applied to roadways, walkways, and parking areas. Please be advised that surfaces may become icy quickly, even after treatment.

Residents are encouraged to travel only if necessary, exercise caution, and adjust driving to prevailing road and weather conditions.

Garbage and Recycling - Normal curbside collection (No scheduled changes) 

Thursday, December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day):

Garbage - Collection moved to Friday, December 26, 2025
Recycling - Collection moved to Saturday, December 27, 2025

Monday, December 29, 2025:

Garbage and Recycling - Normal curbside collection (No scheduled changes)

Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year’s Day):

Garbage - Collection moved to Friday, January 2, 2026
Recycling - Collection moved to Saturday, January 3, 2026

Closes Wednesday, December 24 at 12:00 p.m. and reopens Monday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m.

North Kawartha Community & Fitness Centre:

Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve): Closes 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day): Closed

Friday, December 26 (Boxing Day): Closed

Wednesday, December 31 (New Years Eve): Closes 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 1 (New Years Day): Closed

Transfer Stations (Haultain & Anstruther):

Closed Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day) and Thursday, January 1 (New Years Day)
Open regular winter hours all other days
