Canada Day Closures & Hours

Public Notice

The Township of North Kawartha Municipal office will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, for Canada Day and will re-open on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours. 

Parks & Recreation 

The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Firework & Fire Restrictions Reminder

Fireworks are only permitted in the Township of North Kawartha from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, as well as the weekend prior to and the weekend following the holiday.

Residents are also reminded that daytime burning is not permitted. Open-air burning, including campfires, is only allowed between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. with a valid burn permit.

Please celebrate safely and responsibly. The Township of North Kawartha wishes everyone a happy Canada Day.

Service Disruption Notice

Curbside Garbage Collection

Curbside garbage collection scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2026 was not completed on select routes due to truck issues.

Collection will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Residents on affected roads are asked to please remove materials from the curb this evening and place them back out by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday to assist with collection.

Register to Vote for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections

You can use Elections Ontario’s Voter Registration service online tool that allows eligible Ontario electors to confirm, update, add or remove their voter information for Ontario provincial and local elections, including elections for municipal Council Members and School Board Trustees. 

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) remains responsible for collecting information about school support. To update your school support information, visit MPAC’s online School Support tool.
