Welcoming new faces, celebrating promotions, and honouring retirements
Staff Announcements
The Township of North Kawartha is pleased to share several important staffing announcements and updates taking place across the organization. These changes support our ongoing commitment to strong municipal service delivery while recognizing the dedicated employees who contribute so much to our community.
Recognizing Upcoming Retirements
Alana Solman, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), will retire after 26 years of dedicated service on June 30, 2026. Alana’s leadership, professionalism, and commitment have played a significant role in shaping the municipality and serving the community.
Connie Parent, Clerk, will retire on May 31, 2026, after 32 years with the Township. Connie’s extensive knowledge, dedication, and support to Council, staff, and residents have been central to the work of the Clerk’s Office and municipal administration.
The Township extends its sincere appreciation to Alana and Connie and wishes them the very best in their well deserved retirements!
New Appointments to the Organization
New Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Council is very pleased to welcome back Shannon Hunter, in the role of Interim CAO. Shannon will commence her role upon the retirement of the current CAO, Alana Solman in June, 2026. With several staff transitions, the hiring of a full time Deputy CAO and an upcoming municipal election, Shannon’s prior knowledge of the municipality as well as her expertise will guide North Kawartha through 2026 into the next term of Council in 2027.
New Deputy Chief Building Official
The Township is pleased to welcome Eddy Whitmore, who joined the organization on January 5, 2026, as the Deputy Chief Building Official. Eddy’s past experience will be a benefit to North Kawartha residents, builders and developers.
Promotion Announcements
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer
The Township is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Post, current Public Works Manager, to the role of full time Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, effective March 2, 2026. Jason’s knowledge, experience and leadership along with his strong background in municipal operations and ability to work collaboratively with others provides an excellent foundation for his transition into this new leadership role.
Public Works Manager
Following the promotion of Jason Post, Corey Dunsby has been appointed to the position of Public Works Manager, effective March 30, 2026. Corey has served the organization as Public Works Foreman, bringing operational knowledge, leadership experience, and a strong commitment to service delivery and a collaborative approach to working with staff and external partners.
Clerk
Following the retirement of Connie Parent, Kelly Picken, current Deputy Clerk, will be promoted to Clerk, effective June 1, 2026. Kelly has been a dedicated member of the Clerks Department for many years, bringing extensive knowledge, training and experience to the position and is well suited to continue supporting the legislative and administrative functions of the municipality in this new capacity.
Deputy Clerk
Following the promotion of Kelly Picken to the position of Clerk, Keely-Anne Johnson will be promoted to the position of Deputy Clerk, effective June 1, 2026. Keely-Anne’s previous experience in Executive Administrative positions and her knowledge and experience in municipal government including customer service and communications has prepared her for this role.
