Well Water Sampling Program Resumes in North Kawartha

The Lakelands Public Health Water Sampling Drop-Off Program is back for the 2026 season, beginning Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Township of North Kawartha.

  • Drop-off Location: Municipal Office – 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley
  • Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Water samples are couriered to the Public Health Ontario Lab in Peterborough for testing. Empty sample bottles can be picked up at the Municipal Office during regular business hours.

Why test your well water?

Well water testing is recommended at least twice per year (spring and fall). Samples are tested for bacteria, including E. coli and total coliforms, which can pose health risks if consumed.

Important Reminder:

Samples must be returned within 24 hours of collection. Be sure to carefully follow the instructions provided with your kit.

Water samples can also be dropped off at the following locations:

  1. Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township Office, 1 Ottawa Street, Havelock, from Monday through Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  2. Lakelands Public Health, 185 King Street, Peterborough, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Fridays.
  3. Public Health Ontario Laboratory, 99 Hospital Drive weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
