Ice Storm Update
The freezing rainstorm has left the municipality coping with the resulting power outages. Cleanup is underway and Hydro One crews are working hard to restore power, although full restoration may take a few days.

The Anstruther and Haultain Transfer Stations are accepting brush (no stumps) from the storm. Debris is accepted free of charge and debris over 6” in diameter needs to be separated.

Please note:
Centreline Depot (1275 County Road 24) is currently CLOSED due to significant brush accumulation, which has made the site unsafe for public access. County crews are working to clear the site and will reopen it as soon as it’s safe to do so.
These depots are for storm clean-up/tree debris only – NO leaf and yard waste.

Brush must be placed in the designated areas – please follow all on-site signage.
And remember to always check with your local township for burn bans and permit requirements.

Sand and Sandbags are available to the public just inside the sand dome located at the Township of North Kawartha Roads Garage 10230 Highway 28. Bring a shovel!

Protect Your Home from Flooding
Where safe to do so:
- Clear debris from gutters, eavestroughs, and downspouts
- If water reaches electrical systems (like outlets or furnace), call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235 to safely disconnect power
- Never enter flooded areas unless power is off
Carbon Monoxide Safety Alert
Make sure you’re taking the proper precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones from dangerous carbon monoxide exposure.
- Always operate your generator outdoors - Never place generators near windows, doors, or vents.
- Refuel with care – Turn off the generator before refueling and allow it to cool down. Fuel safety is key
- Don’t overload your generator – Only use what your generator is rated for.
- Don’t run BBQs or charcoal grills inside or in enclosed spaces — even in the garage!
- Check your wood stove to make sure it’s venting properly to avoid the build-up of harmful gases.
- Install carbon monoxide detectors in your home and test them regularly!
Power Outages
Power outages persist across many areas. Residents are urged to stay away (10 metres) from downed power lines even if they do not appear to be live. Report power line damage to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
