  • Public Notice – Temporary Road Closures for Canada Day Parade

    Please be advised that temporary road closures will be in effect on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from approximately 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., or for the duration of the Apsley and District Lions Club Canada Day Parade.

    The parade will begin at Apsley Central Public School and travel through downtown Apsley before concluding at the North Kawartha Community Centre (340 McFadden Road).

    Temporary road closures will be in effect along portions of the following roads to accommodate the parade route:

    • Burleigh Street at County Road 620
    •  River Street
    • Burleigh Street at Wellington Street
    • Tucker Street
    • County Road 504 at Jack Lake Road (County Road 52)
    • Jack Lake Road (County Road 52) and McFadden Road
    • Jack Lake Road (County Road 52) to the North Kawartha Community Centre

    Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, expect minor delays, and follow all posted signage and directions from event organizers and traffic control personnel.

    Recycling Collection

    • Monday, June 29, 2026
      Curbside collection will occur as regularly scheduled.

    • Thursday, July 2, 2026
      Curbside collection will occur as regularly scheduled.

    Garbage Collection

    • Monday, June 29, 2026
      Curbside collection will occur as regularly scheduled.

    • Thursday, July 2, 2026
      Curbside collection is rescheduled to Friday, July 3, 2026.

    Reminder: Please have your material placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. to ensure timely collection.

  • Firework By-law Reminder Canada Day

    As Canada Day approaches, the Township of North Kawartha Emergency Services Department would like to remind residents and visitors that the setting off of fireworks is regulated under By-law 2021-0118.

    Fireworks are permitted for Canada Day between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on the weekend prior to Canada Day, on July 1, and on the weekend immediately following. Fireworks are not permitted outside of these dates and times.

    Residents are reminded that fireworks must be used responsibly and shall not be set off in, on, or onto any building, highway, sidewalk, or municipal property, including parks, unless written approval has first been obtained from Council. 

    Any damage or injury resulting from the use of fireworks is the responsibility of the person setting them off.


    Please celebrate safely and be considerate of your neighbours, pets, and wildlife.

    Residents are asked to please remove materials from the curbside this evening and place material back out by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 to assist with collection.

  • Public Notice: Canada Day - July 1, 2026

    The Municipal office will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, for Canada Day and will re-open on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 9:00 am with normal business hours. 

    Parks & Recreation 

    The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

    Garbage & Recycling 

    The Haultain and Anstruther Transfer Stations will be open on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with regular operating hours per the summer schedule. 

    Curbside Garbage collection on Thursday, July 2, 2026, will be moved to Friday, July 3, 2026. Please have your material out at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. 

    Curbside Recycling collection will operate as normal. Please have your material out at the curbside by 7:00 am.

    Firework & Fire Restrictions Reminder

    Fireworks are only permitted in the Township of North Kawartha from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, as well as the weekend prior to and the weekend following the holiday.

    Residents are also reminded that daytime burning is not permitted. Open-air burning, including campfires, is only allowed between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. with a valid burn permit.
