    April 4, 2025 Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane Road - 1 Lane Open
    A portion of Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane located in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen was washed out due to water overflow on April 3 and is now open to 1 lane of traffic.  This portion is just north of Shady Lane.

    The Municipal Office, at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley, will remain closed on Friday, April 4, 2025, due to ongoing service disruptions resulting from limited internet and phone communications. Municipal business will continue with Municipal staff and Council being available to the public at 705-656-4445 or direct lines or emails by using our Contact Us directory on the website or reception@northkawartha.ca or firstname.lastname@northkawartha.ca

    Power outages persist across many areas. Residents are urged to stay away (10 metres) from downed power lines even if they do not appear to be live. Report power line damage to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

    A portion of Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane located in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen has washed out due to water overflow.  This portion is just north of Shady Lane.  Road Closure signs have been placed at McFadden Road (at the North Kawartha arena).

    The Municipal Office, at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley, will remain closed on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 and Thursday, April 3, 2025, due to ongoing service disruptions resulting from limited internet and phone communications. 

    A Significant Weather Event declaration remains in effect for North Kawartha as cleanup efforts continue, and potential weather forecasts show freezing rain. The Public Works Department is clearing roads in priority order and cautions that some Township roads may be reduced to one lane.

    Storm Debris

    Peterborough County residents may drop off brush free until April 14th at the following Public Works Depots:

    ·        Douro – 713 County Road 4

    ·        Millbrook – 1111 County Road 10

    ·        Centreline – 1275 County Road 24

    ·        Havelock – 649 County Road 46

    ·        Buckhorn – 2467 County Road 36

    Please place brush in designated areas and follow signage at each Depot.

  • Public Notice - March 31, 2025

    Due to ongoing hydro, telephone, and internet service disruptions, the Municipal Office at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025. 


    The North Kawartha Community Centre (NKCC) at 340 McFadden Road, Apsley, is open as a warming station until 9:00 PM. Please note that telephone and internet services are unavailable, and all ice surface activities and rentals have been cancelled.

  • Public Notice: Cancelled Curbside Collection

    Due to current weather and road conditions, curbside collection for garbage and recycling within the Township of North Kawartha has been cancelled for today, Monday, March 31, 2025. A double collection will be accepted on Monday. April 7, 2025.

    Due to expected inclement weather, the North Kawartha Figure Skating Club's annual ice show on Saturday, March 29th has been postponed to ensure everyone’s safety. But don’t worry, the magic is still happening!
