Eels Creek Bridge Reconstruction

Please note that the construction work on Highway 28 (Provincial Highway) at Eels Creek Park is a project under the Ministry of Transportation. For concerns with the project, please contact Dominick Violante at Bellai Alliance at (613) 782-2932 as the Township has no jurisdiction over the project.

Please be advised that Bellai Alliance Civil Inc. will be conducting reconstruction works along the Highway 28 Right-of-Way at the Eels Creek Bridge located at the Eels Creek Rest Area (approx. 13.3km North of Burleigh Falls). Work is scheduled to begin on June 3, 2024, and conclude in August 2025.

Replacement of the HWY 28 Bridge Structure over Eels Creek will be completed in two (2) stages with the bridge reduced to one lane. Access across the structure will be controlled with temporary traffic signals. A winter shutdown of operations will occur between December 2024 – May 2025.  

Traffic Impacts:

Traffic will encounter single lane closures along Highway 28 NBL and SBL with one lane remaining open at all times. Vehicular access across Eels creek will be controlled via temporary traffic signals.

Road Construction

Road Resurfacing 

Starting Thursday, September 12, 2024, road resurfacing will begin on Dunford Road, Don Wilson Road, Big Cedar Lake Road, and Coon Lake Road. Lane restrictions will be in place daily to allow for the maintenance work. The project is expected to take 4-5 business days, depending on weather conditions.

We ask that you drive carefully and be mindful of road crews and equipment. 

No scheduled closures upon North Kawartha Municipal Roads at this time.
