  • Short-term Rentals Advisory Committee Public Engagement Invitation and Preliminary Recommendations

    The Council of North Kawartha has appointed a Short-term Rental Advisory Committee to examine matters related to short-term rentals (STRs) within the Township. Members of the public are welcome to observe or share their input, either in person at the meeting, virtually via Zoom, or by submitting written comments 

  • Service Disruption Notice: NKCC Water Bottle Filling Station

    As of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the outdoor water bottle filling station at the North Kawartha Community Centre (340 McFadden Road, Apsley) is temporarily closed due to facility operations.

    Water is available at the Glen Alda Community Centre (3723 County Road 620) or for purchase at Sayers Foods (132 Burleigh Street).

  • Total Fire and Firework Ban in effect for the Township of North Kawartha

    Total Fire and Firework Ban is in effect as of Friday, August 5, 2025, and will remain in effect until further notice.

    All forms of open-air burning are strictly prohibited (not allowed) during a total fire and firework ban:

    • Campfires, of all sizes 
    • Brush burning, of all means
    • Cooking Fires, of all means
    • Wood cooking equipment
    • Charcoal Barbecues
    • Charcoal or wood smokers
  • Public Washrooms Closed at 135 Burleigh Street, Apsley

    Please be advised that the public washrooms located at 135 Burleigh Street, Apsley, are temporarily closed due to a service disruption to the water supply.

    During this time, public washroom facilities remain available at the North Kawartha Community Centre (NKCC) located at 340 McFadden Road, Apsley.

  • Public Notice: Civic Holiday - Monday, August 4, 2025

    The Municipal Office will be closed and will reopen Tuesday, August 5 at 9:00 a.m.
    The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Both Transfer Stations will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

    Curbside waste collection will operate as normal with no scheduled changes. 

  • Notice of upcoming micro surface treatment

    Micro surface treatment will be completed on Oakridge Drive, Tucker Street, and Tucker Street North during the month of August 2025.

    Minor traffic delays are expected, and lane restrictions will be in place while the work is underway. If full road closures are required, advance notice will be provided. Emergency vehicle access will remain open at all times.

    Please use caution when approaching Township staff, contractors, or equipment on the roadway.

  • Public Notice: Procedural By-Law Amendments

    Council will consider proposed amendments to the Procedural By-Law at the regular meeting of Council scheduled for July 15, 2025.  The Draft By-Law is available for review and public comments may be submitted.

  • Public Notice - July 1, 2025, Canada Day

    The Municipal office will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, for Canada Day and will re-open on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 9:00 am with normal business hours. 

    The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

     

  • Notice of Road Construction

    Starting Monday, June 23, 2025, the Township of North Kawartha’s Public Works Department will begin construction on Fire Route 10, Haultain Road, and Big Cedar Lake Road in preparation for surface treatment application.

  • Proposed Wireless Communications Site

    Spectra Point Inc., agents of Rogers Communications Inc., are proposing to install a 90-metre guyed wireless communications tower at 1480 County Road 504, Apsley. The proposed tower will improve 4G and 5G wireless services and enhance emergency communications for police, fire, and EMS in the area. As part of the public consultation process through Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), nearby property owners have been notified by mail or courier.

    A virtual public information session will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, with registration required by July 4, 2025. Members of the public are also invited to submit comments on the proposal by July 11, 2025.
