  • Notice of Road Closure - Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane

    April 3, 2025
    A portion of Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane located in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen has washed out due to water overflow.  This portion is just north of Shady Lane.  Road Closure signs have been placed at McFadden Road (at the North Kawartha arena).

  • Public Notice April 2, 2025

    The Municipal Office, at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley, will remain closed on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 and Thursday, April 3, 2025, due to ongoing service disruptions resulting from limited internet and phone communications. 

    A Significant Weather Event declaration remains in effect for North Kawartha as cleanup efforts continue, and potential weather forecasts show freezing rain. The Public Works Department is clearing roads in priority order and cautions that some Township roads may be reduced to one lane.

    Power outages persist across many areas. Residents are urged to stay away (10 metres) from downed power lines even if they do not appear to be live. Report power line damage to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

    ·        North Kawartha Community Centre at 340 McFadden Road (open until 9:00 p.m.)

    ·        North Kawartha Public Library – Apsley Branch- 175 Burleigh Street

    Storm Debris

    Peterborough County residents may drop off brush free until April 14th at the following Public Works Depots:

    ·        Douro – 713 County Road 4

    ·        Millbrook – 1111 County Road 10

    ·        Centreline – 1275 County Road 24

    ·        Havelock – 649 County Road 46

    ·        Buckhorn – 2467 County Road 36

    Please place brush in designated areas and follow signage at each Depot.

  • Public Notice - March 31, 2025

    Due to ongoing hydro, telephone, and internet service disruptions, the Municipal Office at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025. 


    The North Kawartha Community Centre (NKCC) at 340 McFadden Road, Apsley, is open as a warming station until 9:00 PM. Please note that telephone and internet services are unavailable, and all ice surface activities and rentals have been cancelled.

  • Public Notice: Cancelled Curbside Collection

    Due to current weather and road conditions, curbside collection for garbage and recycling within the Township of North Kawartha has been cancelled for today, Monday, March 31, 2025. A double collection will be accepted on Monday. April 7, 2025. 

  • Public Notice: Municipal Office Remains Closed

    The Municipal Office at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley, will remain closed on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, due to ongoing service disruptions. At this time, municipal staff are unable to communicate or respond to emails or phone calls.

  • North Kawartha Figure Skating Club's Annual Ice Show Postponed

    Due to expected inclement weather, the North Kawartha Figure Skating Club's annual ice show on Saturday, March 29th has been postponed to ensure everyone’s safety. But don’t worry, the magic is still happening!

    New Event Date: Saturday, April 5, 2025 
    Showtime: 6:00 p.m. 
    Location: North Kawartha Community Center, 340 McFadden Road, Apsley

    Notice of Public Meeting for a Proposed Community Improvement Project Area and Amendment to the Plan
    The Township of North Kawartha is proposing changes to the current Community Improvement Plan (CIP) adopted by Council in 2018. The CIP offers financial incentive programs for certain eligible properties to promote the revitalization and renewal of communities within the Township. Please refer to the public notice for further information on the proposed changes and details of the public meeting.

    Public Notice: Take Notice that the Township of North Kawartha has declared those Lands being part lot 6 & 7 Concession 15 (former Township of Burleigh) Township of North Kawartha, being part 40 on Plan 45R-363, surplus to the needs of the Township, and intends to sell the Lands by public tender.

  • Public Notice: Reduced Load Restrictions in Effect starting March 10, 2025

    Starting March 10, 2025, reduced load restrictions will be in effect for all Township of North Kawartha roads.

    Reduced load restrictions are applied each spring during the thaw when the road network is most vulnerable to help prevent permanent damages to pavement and surface treated roads.

    While in the reduced load restrictions are in place, vehicles are restricted to load limits of 5 tonnes per axle.

  • Public Notice: Declaration of Significant Weather Event Lifted

    The Township of North Kawartha has lifted the declaration of Significant Weather Event, declared on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02, the Minimum Maintenance Standards
