  • Public Notice: Total Fire and Firework Ban Lifted - Restrictions in Place

    The Township of North Kawartha is advising residents and visitors that the Total Fire and Firework Ban issued on August 5, 2025, has been lifted as of Friday, August 29, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. 

    While the total ban is no longer in effect, burning restrictions remain in place.

    • Daytime burning is not permitted, and burning is allowed only between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. with a valid burn permit.
    • Fireworks may also be used between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Holidays and their preceding weekends.
    • Flying lanterns are strictly prohibited in North Kawartha at all times. 
  • Public Notice: September 1, 2025, Labour Day Municipal Hours

    The Municipal office will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, for Labour Day and will re-open on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours.

  • Public Notice: Upcoming MTO Culvert Improvements on Highway 28 from Apsley to Bancroft

    The Township of North Kawartha has become aware of upcoming road construction planned and coordinated by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), under project GWP 4017-17-00 and contract number 2022-4005, and would like to share that information with residents and travelers.

  • Notice of Minor Traffic Delays - Crack Sealing

    The Township of North Kawartha Public Works Department would like to advise residents and motorists that crack sealing on Oakridge Drive, Tucker Street, and Tucker Street North, will be taking place today.

    Minor traffic delays are anticipated, and lane restrictions will be in effect throughout the duration of the work.

  • Notice of Resolved Service Disruption: NKCC Water Filling Station

    Please be advised that the service disruption affecting the water filing station at the North Kawartha Community Centre, located at 340 McFadden Road, Apsley, has been resolved. The water filling station is now operating as usual.

    The water filling station at the Glen Alda Community Centre, located at 3723 County Road 620, Glen Alda, also remains open and available for use.

    We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents during this disruption.

  • Full fire ban in effect across Peterborough County

    Peterborough County has issued a total fire ban across all townships due to extremely dry conditions and high wildfire risk.

    Residents and visitors are reminded that the Township of North Kawartha has had a total fire and firework ban in effect since August 5, 2025, and it remains in place.

  • Total Fire and Firework Ban in effect for the Township of North Kawartha

    Total Fire and Firework Ban is in effect as of Friday, August 5, 2025, and will remain in effect until further notice.

    All forms of open-air burning are strictly prohibited (not allowed) during a total fire and firework ban:

    • Campfires, of all sizes 
    • Brush burning, of all means
    • Cooking Fires, of all means
    • Wood cooking equipment
    • Charcoal Barbecues
    • Charcoal or wood smokers
  • Notice of upcoming micro surface treatment

    Micro surface treatment will be completed on Oakridge Drive, Tucker Street, and Tucker Street North during the month of August 2025.

    Minor traffic delays are expected, and lane restrictions will be in place while the work is underway. If full road closures are required, advance notice will be provided. Emergency vehicle access will remain open at all times.

    Please use caution when approaching Township staff, contractors, or equipment on the roadway.

  • Public Notice: Procedural By-Law Amendments

    Council will consider proposed amendments to the Procedural By-Law at the regular meeting of Council scheduled for July 15, 2025.  The Draft By-Law is available for review and public comments may be submitted.

  • Public Notice - July 1, 2025, Canada Day

    The Municipal office will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, for Canada Day and will re-open on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 9:00 am with normal business hours. 

    The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
